China Unicom Would Participate in Constructing the First Submarine Optical Fiber Cable Line Connecting Africa and South America 


A few days ago the government of Equatorial Guinea, China Unicom and Cameroon Telecommunications signed a memorandum of understanding in order to form joint venture to construct South Atlantic Inter LinkSAIL connecting Cameroon and Brazil. According to introducing SAIL will adopt Huawei advanced 100G technology and 4 pairs of optical fiber. Its initial design capacity is 32Tbps and its length is 5900km in total.

SAIL is the first fast optical fiber network system linking Africa and South America. Its operation would supply stable and high quality telecommunications infrastructure services to the two developing countries.

Furthermore Nexans will provide submarine delay cable for SAIL manufactured by the factory Rognan located in Norway and finished in the end of the year.

According to the plan SAIL will go into operation in 2018.
